Measuring the effects of benefit-oriented tourism supporting the poor in rural areas and explaining the strategies adopted by the villagers (Case study :villages around of Zribar lake in Marivan county)

Abstract

Pro-poor tourism development is the accepted version of managing the development of rural tourism destinations in the direction of moving towards poverty alleviation based on growth along with the redistribution of benefits from tourism, The need for rural tourism destinations centered on the Zarivar wetland as one of the most important rural tourism destinations in Kurdistan province is completely understandable considering the extent of rural poverty and the present applied research has been carried out in this direction in order to measure the development status of this tourism management approach among the villages of the wetland. This descriptive-analytical research is based on data collection in the theoretical part with documentary sources and in the practical part based on field survey with a quantitative and comparative nature and cross-sectionally among 8 villages around Zarivar Wetland. The statistical population of the research includes the heads of households in the villages of the lagoon, which were distributed among them with the Kochran formula and stratified distribution of 363 researcher-made questionnaires, including indicators related to the reduction of rural poverty affected by the development of tourism. The findings obtained through data analysis using inferential statistics tools, showed that in the three dimensions of improving the economic (2.33), social (average 2.28) and natural (2.97) situation, the situation was unfavorable and it is only in the aspect of improving the physical-spatial situation (3.08) that the development of tourism at the level of the studied region has been able to lead to relatively positive changes in the quality of life of the rural poor. Also, the most effective dimension, which has the most power to explain the unfavorable current situation in relation to the lack of effectiveness of tourism in supporting the rural poor of the study area; economic dimension and then; are social.
