Abstract
The view of the word as one of the main units of discourse analysis has a central impact on the formation of linguistic structure and, consequently, the translation system. A permanent feature of the evolution of word semantics has been the continuous expansion of the scope of looking at the word; frame semantics is a cognitive approach to analyzing the meaning of words that considers the level of word analysis not the sentence, nor even the textual context, but a set of mental and conceptual structures formed among language users. In fact, conceptual metaphor frameworks create semantic frames in which the word plays a role. The application of this theory in translation will lead to a review of the conceptual systems of the source and target languages with the aim of accurately reconstructing the text; an issue that, according to the present study, has not been considered in the process of Quran translation so far, and this has caused a conceptual gap to remain in the understanding and accurate representation of meanings in Quran translation. Therefore, in the present study, using a descriptive-analytical method, we examined the functions of the phrase "min duna" within the framework of the Quran, and then, with a critical approach, we analyzed the performance of translators in rendering it, which ultimately suggests that translators have often not been very successful in reconstructing the fluid functions of this phrase.
