Analyzing the Role of Local-Spatial Differences in the Sense of Happiness among the Citizens of Ahvaz

Abstract

As Ahvaz faces environmental challenges and local-spatial diffrences (inequality of uplifting spaces), this affects its citizens' happiness. Local diffrences and citizens' sense of happiness are the main variables of this study. Generally, justic planning and reducing local and spatial diffrences to benefit happiness spaces are the main suggestions of the study. This study is of the theoritical-applied type following a descriptive-analytic methodology. The statistical population of the study includes the citizens of Ahvaz (both men and women) in the age range of 15 years and above, which is equal to 887,280 people in the total population of Ahvaz. The sample size is 385 citizens of the city based on Cochran's formula and the sampling method used is simple random. The questionnaires used in this study were completed in six selected neighborhoods. Data analysis was performed by statistical methods including mean responses, linear regression, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA and ArcGIS software. According to the results, the happiness level of the citizens of Ahvaz is lower than average.in addition, there was no significant difference found between the two groups of males and females in Ahvaz in terms of happiness level, but there was a significant difference between the age groups in terms of happiness level.The difference in spatial levels plays a role in the difference in the happiness level of citizens in different neighborhoods of Ahvaz City; in fact, the happiness level of citizens varies and decreases from places and neighborhoods with higher levels to places and neighborhoods of lower levels. In other words, local and spatial differences and inequalities lead to inequity in the level of happiness among the citizens, and the distribution of happiness among the citizens based on spatial differences does not have a fair pattern.
