Abstract
The aim of this paper is the recognition of the social and cultural factors affecting the amount of walking among married men and determine the weight of each of factors. The methodology was survey with a random sampling of 360 people coming from different areas of Mashhad. The results of the research showed that there are a significant positive relationship between social class, security along walkable streets, the amount of leisure time, religious awareness of the usefulness of exercising and amount of walking. The results of the regression analysis (i.e., the multivariate step-by-step method) indicated that the following variables have, respectively, the most positive impact on the amount of walking by married men: the amount of leisure time, security of walkable streets, encouragement by others, social class, and finally, religious awareness of the usefulness of sports. The value of correlation coefficient also was 0.427. Finally, the path analysis indicated an indirect relationship between social class and leisure.
