Abstract

Proving socio-economic services to rural settlements is the main role of focal points, such as small towns, agropolises and other central locations. Market towns are one of the above mentioned centers which have an important role on rural- urban relation and linkages. Sardasht village in the Bashagerd area of Homozgan province was upgraded as town through political decision in 2010. Evaluation the service providing potential of Sardasht has been the main aim of this research. 174 household have selected as research sample society using Cochran's formula among 51 sample villages randomly. Required data has collected through document study and filling questionnaire. Collected data are analyzes using descriptive statistic, centrality index, Chi- Square test and logistic regression. Findings have indicated that "Sardasht" is most important destination of rural dwellers to obtain different services, and existing services have important impact on current service providing role of city. However, the area is still facing serious problems in providing basic services such as medical, veterinary, agricultural tools and other repair services.
