The role of spiritual health in predicting overall health and its three dimensions

Abstract
Health is considered an important asset among adolescents, and spiritual health can strengthen it. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between spiritual health and the general health (physical, psychological, social) of adolescents. This research employed a cross-sectional, correlational design. The research sample comprised 400 female adolescents from Jahrom city in the year 2023, who were selected using a random sampling method. Data were collected using the validated Spiritual Health Questionnaire by Dalman and Frey (2004) and the Lifestyle Questionnaire (Lali et al., 2012). Validity was assessed using face validity and convergent validity (AVE), and reliability was examined using Cronbach's Alpha, Composite Reliability (CR), and Homogeneous Reliability (Rho). Data were analyzed using SPSS and PLS (Partial Least Squares) software, employing structural equation modeling. The findings indicated that the level of general health, physical health, psychological health, and social health among adolescents was high, while their level of spiritual health was moderate. Furthermore, the findings of this research demonstrated a positive and significant relationship between spiritual health and individuals' general health. This relationship was also observed separately for each health dimension (physical, psychological, and social). PLS analysis further revealed that spiritual health accounted for 35% of the variance in the general health variable. Recognizing this relationship and strengthening spiritual health alongside physical, psychological, and social health can empower adolescents to navigate the complexities of adolescence.
