Abstract

Abstract
Using the grounded theory method and through semi-structured interviews, this research is trying to identify the motivations, drivers, and inhibiting factors for the participation of Persian Wikipedia wikipedia writers. In this research, 15 active wiki writers were interviewed with open questions (face-to-face interview or email interview) based on targeted sampling based on accessibility. Data were extracted using Strauss and Corbin's coding technique and continuous comparative analysis method, analysis and four areas of editorial motivations, writing motivations, stimulating motivations and inhibiting motivations.
The findings showed that many motivations from outside and inside Wikipedia have an effect on the level of cooperation and continuity of users' participation, which can be divided into two categories of extra-Wikipedia and inside-Wikipedia factors. The findings showed that the two factors "content production" and "Wikipedia promotion" are the highest motivation for cooperation in Persian Wikipedia, and next to that, "entertainment" is the lowest motivation for continuing cooperation. In addition, the interaction of users and the feedback that wiki writers receive for their cooperation in wiki can be the strongest motivation to stay or leave Persian Wikipedia.
